Supporting First Year Students in their Transition to University

 

First year curriculum plays a critical role in student participation, success, engagement and retention. First year curriculum principles were the focus of an ALTC fellowship in 2009 and a well researched and accepted model exists in the work of Kift (2009) who lists the principles as: transition, diversity, design, engagement, assessment and evaluation and monitoring.

This short guide provides simple, low risk, ‘do-able’ actions that will make a difference.
